I had what I think was a successful job interview, but they have requested work references.

They cant be family, they cant be managers from different departments or co-workers.

Having only worked for one company for any period of time not owned by a family member I stuck as who to ask.

I'm trying to get in contact with my manager from my last job, but thats only 1 from 2 they want. He said he would help out back when they made me redundant, but have to get in contact with him again to make sure he's still ok with it.

Any ideas on who I could use ?

I would hate for this opportunity to be lost because I've been working for family

It's not only a moral thing.
Getting caught out = instant dismissal.
I don't see the need to lie when the truth should satisfy.

I feel your plight, Sypher. I'm job hunting too. Could they perhaps accept a reference from a former teacher or professor? I think a teacher or professor would be just as qualified as an employer to shed light on your character and work ethic.
