My daughter is 1 Year old and is the smartest little thing ever. last week she spent a week with Rosie and Bytehead while i was in the field. She came back and now knows how to throw temper tantrums, I mean full on stomping of feet and throwing herself to the ground. Grandma and grandpa got a perfect little angel, and in return, i got a little devil. Since being back, she has broken my Xbox yet again and demands that she is the center of attention at all times. If you leave the room for a brief second, the mother of all tantrums ensue.... When will it end!!!!!!!!!!! Can I trade her in for an older model?

Laugh. Be in good humor, tell her that it's really funny when she does it and don't give in. She'll drop it eventually. (Just make it clear that you're laughing at the behavior, not her.)

As for the 'helpfulness' of parents... just remind them that you get to pick their nursing home.

mostly ignore the tantrums, and start doing somthing she would find interesting, coloring or summat.... wont work every time, obviously, but heck if it works once that's one less time you gotta deal with it....

... and actually you should be proud. It sounds like she's going through her 'terrible two's' early!

I will have you know, Quaektem, I am a throroughly Southern Grandma.  I know how to discipline children.  Yours, mine, theirs, and grandbabies.  And I am old enough to not care if you don't like me demanding respect.

We got no tantrums here.  And she most assuredly did not get what she wanted, either.  And, we had some routines, like reading before bed.  If she got spoiled, blame her caregiver and aunt!

Then tantrums teens can do!  At least she is young enough you can pick her up and put her to bed!

Ah crap! What does my handy government emergency manual say to do in this situation...

Ah! DUCK AND COVER!

She may be small enough, but she squirms and makes bedtime routine hard mom. To change a diaper now is like sitting through church. requires a lot of patience.
