My rebutting rant.
On my fresh install of 7, if you disable the motherboard post info, it booted up just as fast. Windows updates have seen to making it slower for me. ( Install Win7 on a SSD. )
Yay, even more obnoxious popups taking up all the screen asking, did you mean to copy this, oh there's a file already with this name ! This is really useful, oh wait, no its not its still taking up the screen with annoying screens, give me a simple SMALL dialogue with these as options I don't give a shit 99% of the time. It still doesn't come up with a option to manually rename the files. Enjoy all those File - Copy (2), File - Copy (3), File - Copy (4). Have they not seen how many freeware, malware, spyware, tojans have been coded to rename files and folders due to mass copying ?
Wow! Lots of new features, and what I mean by new features, is things that already exist in right click context sensitive menus. But now they take up 20% of your desktop with a useless large ui that just lets people (who don't know their mouse has a right button) use them. DEATH TO RIBBON MENUS.
Otherwise, it looks like they they've taken a bunch of semi popular windows hacks and made them features.
Oh look now there's a button to start CMD in admin mode ! Nothing like hitting WinKey, searching CMD, right clicking and going "start as admin". NOW THERES A BUTTON HIDDEN AWAY.
Now why exactly are these features in a new version of windows ? why are these not being put in Win7, you know the best OS since 98se. They really want to drop the ball again ?

some of the new features are so old and easily available using small tools on win xp.. its about time MS thought about bringing out the essentials in a default package. but i still wont use it
because of compatibility issues of my dev tools...
or is there a virtualization option in windows 7 and the upcoming windows 8 where i can run my older programs as they are ???
