Firefox 4 Released, and...

I haven't bothered installing it yet myself. I was put off by the beta I tested a couple of months ago. The layout changes did not appeal to me at all. But what I found interesting in the BBC article was this little nugget:

Firefox 4 was made available for download less than a month after Microsoft launched Internet Explorer 9, the latest version of its market-leading browser.

Ha ha, that was a stealth IE release, I never heard anything about it, nor met anyone who gave a rat's arse.

Believe it or not, there are IE fanboys that swear up and down that IE9 is faster than Chrome, me I'll stick with Chrome, might pop on FF4 for backup purposes

Actually IE9 is quite good. They've come light years and are finally back in the game with this release.

Please note that I have regularly nuked my IE on my windows installs. I am not a "fanboy" by any stretch of the imagination.

I'm actually liking the new firefox a lot... haven't got it on my Work PC, cause it's not out for 64bit systems yet...

I accidentally toggled the MENU bar on the top, and gawked at what had suddenly happened to the all nice looking ff4... Immediately toggled off the menu bar... Don't much like the "group your tabs" button... it's just like on the google toolbar's new tab layout or maybe something similar... didn't understand this concept so don't intend to use it.

I hope you all are now using the Bookmarks sync of FF4?? It was out already as an addon for previous versions, and I've been using it since last year, previously was using Chipmarks addon for the same purpose: Syncing the Bookmarks online. So now, I have the same bookmarks library when whether I'm at home or at work or somewhere else... It's quite useful if you're traveling too.. just download the portable firefox, and sync.... surf around and then delete the portable firefox from the public PC you might be using.... Portable Firefox is available free from google's search result... I've been using that too since long... I use both portable and normal firefox, working simultaneous through a "multiple-instances" code in the setup ini of portable version...

Got to know about firefox from here on teoti back in 20003/2004... and have been using that since then and recommending it to all the people I know.
