"Other than the Sun" is a weird condition since, when you're talking about "closest star", it is the winningest winner that ever won. Nevertheless, "Rigil Kentaurus" aka Alpha Centauri isn't actually a star, though it looks like one to the naked eye. It's actually a binary system composed of two stars (though it's possible that Proxima Centauri is also gravitationally related).
