Big holiday sale happening at Steampowered.com from now through Jan 2nd. Steam fans already know whats goin on but for those that don't its a wonderfully fun time of year where the gaming of the past 12 months gets an incredible markdown daily, with new titles featured at about 1pm ET.

In addition to the daily sales, there's also a giveaway thats secondary. Basically a handful of titles have a select bit of achievements which unlock entries into a contest. You get a gift with each entry(achievement), and you can earn them for all the previous days throughout the competition. Some will get coal as a gift. Some get 50-75% off and even freebies on titles available via Steam.

Usually, games "on-sale" that day will also see their DLC marked down, so if you already own a game be sure to scoop up the DLC for it at a considerable markdown! Somewhere in the range of $15-20 being marked down to $1-5....sometimes less!

If you've been on the fence about Steam, its a great piece of software. It centralizes your gaming on the PC into a command center, it itself is free....and theyve added "free to play" content this year into their system. Meaning you can download a ton of games you normally wouldn't have bothered twice with. Demos allow you to try before you buy.
